Inspiral Lounge

Vegetarian cafe and venue on the banks of the canal in the heart of Camden Town.

Founded by festival party heads IDSpiral they offer smoothies, vegan and organic options and superfoods alongside a shop selling health foods, music, books and health products.

Princess Diana Memorial Adventure Playground

The best thing to come out of the Monarchy, probably ever, is the Princess Diana Memorial Adventure Playground so hold your nose and take the kids.

A genuinely impressive adventure playground with a huge pirate ship as the centrepiece. The playground also has a sensory trail, teepees, a beach around the pirate ship and various toys and play sculptures.

For under 12s only who must be accompanied by an adult. There is also a cafe next door.

The playground is in Broad Walk, Kensington Gardensand the nearest tube is Queensway.

Crystal Palace Park

Huge park in South London. Great day out for kids with a Victorian Dinosaur Park first unveiled in 1854.

They were the first dinosaur sculptures in the world, pre-dating the publication of Charles Darwin's Origin of Species by six years.

The Park also has a small maze, well stocked kids playground, sporting arena,the Crystal Palace Mast, a museum and a decidedly average caf'.

Mildreds

Mildreds has served internationally inspired vegetarian and vegan food since 1988. Many menu options are vegan or organic.

Prices are around £7-9 for main courses.

Mildreds are situated at 45 Lexington Street, a short walk from Piccadilly Tube Station.

Ain't Nothin But The Blues Bar

Since opening in October 1993, Ain't Nothin But has brought the Blues to the people with live music every night of the week. From Sunday - Wednesday entrance is free with the famous Monday Blues Jam attracting musicians from across the capital.

You can find them at 20 Kingly Street, immediately behind Hamleys / Liberty in Regent Street.

The Women's Library


The Women's Library is a cultural centre housing the most extensive collection of women's history in the UK. Access is free and open to everyone.

They hold events including workshops, walks, exhibitions and lectures. Many events are free.

The Women's Library is located in Old Castle Street, next to London Metropolitan University's Calcutta House. It is close to both Aldgate and Aldgate East tube stations.

Gay's The Word

Gay's The Word was the UK's first (and today the last surviving) lesbian and gay bookshop. Established in 1979 and located in the historic Bloomsbury district of London, they stock an enormous range of books; "from the profound to the frivolous, from the liberating to the indulgent."

They hold occassional book related events.
